Dive into the Bridging Courses we offer

At African Academy, our Engineering, Maths & Science Bridging Courses assist students in preparing themselves to pursue careers related to the subjects that they wish to pursue.

What is a bridging course?

The purpose of bridging courses is to provide students with a bridge between high school and tertiary education. Specifically, the programs are designed to serve as a resource for students who are eager to learn or who show potential and can benefit from them. They provide students who might not meet the initial requirements with another pathway to help them pursue careers related to these subjects. The courses range from six months to a year in length and are considered introductory courses.

Additionally, these courses help students prepare for tertiary education’s pace and standards.

There are bridging courses in almost every field of study, which are recommended for students who need to gain the necessary knowledge for their ideal careers.

Bridging courses offered by African Academy:

  • N2-N3 Maths & Science
  • Engineering Drawing N2
  • Engineering Drawing N3

N2-N3 Maths & Science:

Civil engineers conceptualise, design, build, supervise, operate, construct and ensure the operation of infrastructure projects and systems in the public and private sectors. This includes roads, buildings, airports, tunnels, dams, bridges, as well as water and wastewater treatment systems. The N2 to N3 National Certificates in the Building and Civil Engineering programme encompass all trades in this industry. If you want to be part of an effort that can improve living standards, building and civil engineering is the career for you.

In this course, you will gain an understanding of the skills required for a career in the Draughting/Engineering industry with a minimum requirement of Grade 9. This course lays the groundwork for students to progress to the Multi-Disciplinary Office Practice course or other Engineering fields.

Engineering Drawing N2 and N3:

These bridging courses are designed for individuals interested in becoming a draughtsperson but have little to no technical drawing experience. Students who complete this course are well prepared to proceed to the Multi-Disciplinary Drawing Office Practice course.

Through the study of draughting from every angle, our Basic Draughting Course enables students to thoroughly understand draughting fundamentals, regardless of the speciality they wish to pursue. Our MDDOP course provides them with an understanding of engineering, building, mechanical, piping, and structural steel detailing and trains them in draughting software.

Developed with the assistance of industry experts, our course material strives for the highest quality standard, ensuring that what our students learn will be helpful in the workplace. Training programs and course materials are continuously updated to reflect current developments in the drafting profession.
