Do you meet the admission requirements?
Suitable candidates must have:
- Grade 12 Mathematics
- EGD skills or completion of our Multi-Disciplinary Drawing Office Practice (MDDOP) course
- Experience within the structural steelwork detailing industry
- Experience in Shop Detailing, which are detailing of beams, columns, grids, platforms and understand GA’s

A structural steelwork detailer assesses the strength of materials, undertakes quality control, uses mathematics to establish bracing systems, mechanical properties and load bearing calculations. Technical drawing is needed for arranging layouts and erection of structural steelwork. Excellent communication skills are required to work alongside other industry professionals and ensuring that regulations and codes are implemented – all of which forms a part of this Diploma in Structural Detailing (NQF5).

The estimated salary for a Structural Steel Detailer is R307,758. As an entry level steel detailer (1-3 years of experience) you could earn an average salary of R226,732. As a senior level steel detailer (8+ years of experience) the average annual salary is R380,203.
