“As an architect, you design for the present, with an awareness of the past for a future which is essentially unknown”

– Norman Foster

African Academy has crafted a unique course that delves into the study of Architecture Technology. This course, split into two certificates, offers students everything they need to excel within the built environment, and prepares them for real-world working situations with important soft skills.

Starting with our NQF Level 5 certificate, we’ve designed the course to give our students a thorough introduction to the architectural profession and its role within the broader context of the built environment. Along with this introduction, students will also gain the skills, competencies, and academic knowledge required to practice in the built environment as a Candidate Architectural Draughtsperson.

The curriculum learned throughout the course of this certification will equip students with the basic skills and requirements they will need in order to practice as a Draughtsperson.

The admission requirements are as follows:

NQF 4 Drawing Office Practice or N4/N5 Multi Drawing Office practice
OR
Grade 12 (Competency in English language & Mathematics and EGD)

The Architectural Technology NQF Level 5 certificate course has a duration of 1 year, achieved on a full-time basis.

Once you’ve completed this qualification, you will have access to the following career path and opportunities:

  • Architectural Draughtsperson
  • Entrance to NQF 6 Diploma, ultimately becoming an Architectural Technologist.
  • Spatial Designer
  • Interior Decorator
  • Developer in Projects
  • Construction Project supervisor

African Academy strongly encourage all students who have completed their NQF Level 5 certificate to upskill with our NQF Level 6 certificate.

This course is offered on both a part-time and full-time basis, however, this depends on the demand at the commencement of the course.

This qualification equips learners with the basic requirements and skills needed to become a Candidate Architectural Technologist. Bearing in mind that our NQF Level 5 certificate is a prerequisite for this course, it is an excellent opportunity to further your knowledge in the field of Architectural Technology to expand opportunities when deciding on your career.

Once you’ve completed this qualification, you will have access to the following career path and opportunities:

  • Interior Designer
